If you would like to give a little to Herve, I’ve asked him to make the following gofundme page…

In this episode I sail to Aratika where my dad was shipwrecked on a reef in the Tuamotu islands in French Polynesia. We explain how the disaster happened and emotions run high as we meet the local family who took us in 9 years ago…
Thanks to Dad, Herve, and Ben for the photos and old footage.

Herve hasn't had internet since before this episode aired. I have not been able to get ahold of him. But next time he comes online, he is going to have a heart attack with the number of you who have donated. Thank you all so much for your generosity. You have changed Herve's life. And his 2 kids. Colin.
DRONE DOWN!! Suggestion (maybe with a better drone driver… lol) when you were nervous navigating through the reef/narrow channel… you said it was hard from eye level… could you maybe navigate watching the drone footage? (Weather permitting obviously.)
So beautiful, thank you for sharing ❤
👍❤️🙏🇦🇺
Great story Colin
Way better than your usual crap of late…
Colin you are a very kind person, that’s why your channel is top notch. You keep it real and fixing that motor for them is priceless.

What an awesome video !! Best I’ve seen out of all the content and youtubers !!!
I’m pretty sure that was a Tayana 37 which has an LMAX of 44ft with the bowsprit and dinghy davits.
Very kind donations for Herve. Where is the wreck of the mono, I didn't catch a final result ending of her hull. Cheers
What a great and sad story. Thank you for sharing. All the best for you and your atoll family.
Excellent episode!!

Wow yes. Very emotional. Sad sight on that reef. Yes have cruised a lot and lived the simple life this wonderful people like this. It is humbling. You just dont need all the crap that we think we do to have a good life.

THE WORLD NEEDS MORE PEOPLE LOKE YOU IN IT COLIN!!!!!
Colin, this video is so remarkable and so very touching. Thank you. God Bless and continue to keep you all safe. Mad LOVE from Connecticut ❤🙏
Your singing has come a long way.
Very touching. More like this needs to happen in the world.
A large come along attached to the anchor can pull a boat off a reef. I know people don't have them on board typically.
Can you please publish the name(s) of the area this video covers? I am a map freak and I love to look down on the area. Thanks
Outsanding episode Colin!
Rule number one coming to places far away from the grid. Check the waters for ropes at entrances. Local put out ropes so boats can go aground. This is a big side income for those places.
Go fund me money will mess up the social structure among islanders.
great episode…thanks
12 Thousand LIKES…….? REALLY????????
Incredible…Herve seems more blessed than all of us.
Just beautiful ❤️
If the propeller had been lapped onto the taper the fishing line probably wouldn't have sheared the key way because key ways don't really do anything in a properly fitted tapered shaft to propeller connection the taper itself transmits the entire force of the engine. Still bad luck to find your self suddenly in that position with no way out and end up high and dry.
This brings back fond memories of sailing from Panama to New Zealand in 1998. I was crewing on a 50’ custom built New Zealand racing sloop returning to New Zealand to complete their 5-year circumnavigation. We spent a month anchored in front of the Kia Ora resort, enjoying the snorkeling, diving, swimming in the Blue Lagoon with the baby sharks and local sites and culture. We helped a Canadian 68’ custom catamaran navigate the treacherous entry into the atoll as they had hit a log and sheared off one of their Saildrives during the crossing from the Marquesas Islands, leaving only one functioning. We became good friends and later partied in Tahiti where they had a new SailDrive installed. They went on to complete their circumnavigation. May you always have fair winds and following seas. Be safe out there.
lovely place but i just couldnt live like a hobo… even in that paradise
