When Italy was ruled as a monarchy, its royal family hailed from Piedmonte and expressed a passion for the region’s Barolo wine, produced from native Nebbiolo grape. Hence, Barolo became known as “the wine of kings”. Since The 1800’s, Barolo has been closely associated with the Conterno winegrowing family, with legendary Aldo Conterno long considered to be the most talented winemaker in Barolo’s storied history.
