Originally a decrepit, dark apartment with a challenging floor plan, architect Flore Gustin of Amate Architecture transformed this 1890s Parisian apartment using inspiration from modernist architecture pioneer Le Corbusierβs iconic Villa La Roche, specifically his use of curved walls and shades of Prussian blue and terracotta. These colours are most prominent in the newly created and placed kitchen, consisting of a central kitchen island with integrated storage. A built-in floor-to-ceiling storage wall finished in okoume wood runs the length of the kitchen and conceals most of the apartmentβs functions, including wardrobe, fridge and pantry. A striking curved wall around the bedroom was designed to allow natural light from the street-facing balcony to stream into all corners of the now light and airy apartment.

love the kitchen island with the blue countertop as well as the bathroom influenced by le corbusier , the bedroom is nice , perhaps a round dinning table and different chairs and what about a black fireplace to make it pop instead of white
Love it but way too much Prussian blue, especially on the kitchenisland. Love the Corbusier-wall! The bathroomdoor is RV-like functionality: super! Q: what kind of hinges did you use on the bedroomdoor?
The kitchen is absolutely not my kind of thing as it looks so 80s with that blue and terracotta colours. And growing up in the 80s I already had enough of these strange colour combos.
I like how this apartment feels like someone actually lives here but is still open concept in terms of creating natural light with a nice flow throughout…
I like that I can see the residents personality throughout the apartment…
Even if the apartment was a fully open design and still kept the personality and same apartment design components, it would still be a great apartment…because it's alive with the residents style and perspective and personality…
It's not fully my style, but that it has a style and fully shows off who the resident is as an individual is my kind of apartment design. π

I wish we could have more information about the challenges of remodel an space in such an old building. Like which are the walls that couldn't be removed, the plumbing and gas lines for the building, etc. Because I could have more understanding of the choices the architect took when layout this small apartment.I like the aesthetic, color choices and materials, but I don't think is a functional space at all. I just wondering about the how practical the kitchen island is right at the entrance of the apartment with so many functions at the same time. Like doing laundry right by the front door, or having the toilet two steps from the front door or cooking by almos by your wardrobe. Having the bathroom door the way it is, it seems like creative but some how the bathroom takes part of the kitchen cabinets. Odd.
Seeing the original layout, Wouldn't have been better to make the second living room space, the bedroom?, and then the bedroom and first living space the kitchen/dining and foyer? Then probably the kitchen island wouldn't have been right by the door and the wardrobe may had had space in the bedroom. Imagine having a guest looking for a fork and opening your underwear drawer.Β
So many questions! As and interior designer this seem dysfunctional to me.
