The UK is becoming a nation of ‘Billy No Mates’ with a trend for eating out alone. But fans of ‘solo dining’ claim it promotes healthier ‘mindful’ eating as they focus on their food, rather than being distracted by chatter.
Online searches for ‘solo dining’ soared by 357% in 12 months and the report by hospitality experts is urging pubs and eateries to cater for loners by playing background music to ‘fill the void of no conversation.’ So should we be doing more to cater for solo diners or is this unfair on pubs and eateries as they could lose out on bookings of more than one diner?

I believe Ryan-Mark Parsons came to the realization some time ago that he is a loser with insecurities, and these comments appear to be a manifestation of those feelings he strongly dislikes within himself. He seems to be projecting these onto others now.
As an introvert, I enjoy being all by myself most of the time. I feel uncomfortable eating during social times so not only I eat alone in restaurants, but do so at home as well. I think it's much more interesting to spend time with family and friends when you have nothing that is distracting you. Like eating for example. Not only this guy is insecure, but also lacking large numbers of IQ digits. Try to be less inconsiderate. Begin by minding your own business and maybe have some balls
You know what REALLY is sad? Caring so much that someone else has the balls to go out on their own. If you don’t like your own company, then you’re fucked when you’ve got no one to spend time with. I really don’t trust or like people who always have to be with someone.
There’s a difference between being alone and being lonely. You can be perfectly happy alone and you can also feel lonely when in a group of people which to me, is the worst feeling.
It also doesn’t surprise me that the posh guy against people dining alone and whose BLATANTLY insecure is also a total and utter hypocrite.
It is not selfish in any way to eat alone. Single people are also charged more when they go on holiday, when they stay in a hotel etc.
If you find dining alone sad, then YOU’RE the one who is sad.

He’s like a male Katie Hopkins. Ignorant and frankly just a hideous individual. He’d be an individual I would never want to be friends with. There’s nothing wrong at all eating alone, it’s good to have time to yourself and escape.
I’ve seen this on TikTok and to be completely honest eating food on your own isn’t weird it’s about having confidence in yourself and having independent as well as being free plus there’s nothing wrong with treating yourself every now and then. Besides I’ve been doing this and I think it’s great 👍.

Mannnn dude comes across as needy and "hive-minded". Done it because of work (travelling for work), done because ive travelled as a tourist solo, its not a biggy, just enjoy the moment with your own thoughts, its fine. Does that mean i will not go out with friends to eat? Of course not, but will being on my own stop me from eating out when i want to, also no.

So, as single man if I am having an enjoyable day out visiting museums etc, I am not allowed to eat anything other than burgers if I feel hungry. Last time I tried eating out alone in a "proper knife and fork and waiter" restaurant was about 40 years ago, horrible experience, now stick to take aways etc.
