Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuFv4iF8wgg&t=1s
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted 😉
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to 😉 Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time.
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are finding the best adventures the world has to offer 🙂
We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!

I’ve been watching for years and I feel like lately Nate has so much more personality, he just seems so confident in himself in a good way not a cocky way
I hope Kara is feeling better!!
You both make a tremendous amount of money you should be giving those poor people at the food market $20 tips for giving you free food and extra food.
I love how you have evolved from a couple of kids from a very conservative background to much more open minded and understanding world travelers. One of my favorite quotes is Mark Twain. “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”
❤
P r o m o s m 🏃
Poor Kara – at least she got what she wished for, staying in the hotel the whole time, lol
27:38 is Kang kung very popular here in the Philippines.
Can we see more living in a van content
Have you guys noticed how many times Nate had mentioned Kara's name while being alone? How adorable is that? ❤😊
positive every woman who saw this wants someone to feel like that about her….. You’re both so very lucky & the best part is that you know it & appreciate it instead of taking it for granted…..💕
At 8:00: I never knew Inspector Clouseau visited Brunei.
At 13:25–your basketball shot was close, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenade throwing.
I also visited a water village back in '87–in Papua New Guinea's capital of Port Moresby. Oh, almost forgot–a few years ago in LA, I visited a Cajun village in a corner of the bayou NE of New Orleans. Oh, I almost forgot one, also in '87–in Hong Kong.
It just came to me what the species of monkey is called–proboscis monkey.
I am bruneian😮
That big hotel i seen only you the costumer? That wierd!
Thanks for sharing the experience
I hope she is better. You know what I appreciate 1. Stating the people of a place are not their government AND 2. Showing both trump and Biden. For whoever you like or dislike. I appreciate that alot. 😊
The pilgrims also outlawed Christmas in the colonies
If I had money and better mobility I would love to visit. I would totally fall off that walkway! If Kara doesn’t get better soon, please take her to see a doctor. ❤
Some country muslim festival is not allowed 😤
JOE MAMA JGZUCULET
Loved the podcast interview! Wondering if you follow Flying the nest? Really good real life full time travel with children. Keep doing what you do every video is a treat!
Please can you come to London
😢 I love this!!!!!!!!❤❤
Nate’s impression of Kara took me out 😂
Ya'll lost me at "alcohol is illegal".
I get to start my travels next April 2024 and my mom is going to come with me for part of it and I was showing her a Rick Steves episode about turkey and was asking her if she would go. I also told her that I do very much like the sound of the call to prayer
Kara, this is VERY important!
Where are your shorts from? 🙊🤭🙏
Just a quick tip: Next time when you are speaking and the prayer start please stop speaking in respect of muslims and to the prayer.
Yeah, it’s all fun and games until some ideologue fanatic chops off your arm for some fabricated BS.
