KEROSENE in my garden??? Just discovered a more “eco friendly way to stop the pups growing back. Instead of Kerosene (which some of you are a bit freaked out about), you can try salt I’ve been told in the comments, oil snd metho mixture (2 parts oil to 1 part metho spirits) or simply dig a bowl shape in the cut so that it fills with water in the rain! I’ll try the third suggestion which coincidently comes from my permi teacher Geoff Lawton. I’ll do an update video on that 😊
Could you please make an update about your mango tree ? How is it going ? How fast does it grow in your garden since you planted the seedling ? Is it now a little healthy tree (or any mango diseases apperaed in your area) ? Are you going to graft it ? Can you visit (show) an adult tree from which you have been given your seed / seedling ? When do you expect you will see your own first mango flowers ? Do you use mango to make mango leaf tea ?
I loved this video like all the other ones. Thanks a lot.
Just one think to say, though. Except I missed a seccion (but I think I didn't because I watched it closely in one go), you didn't explain why you chopped down the banana tree once you'd harvested to banana cluster. It's an interesting thing to point out. That is, that the banana tree will inevitably dye after it produced a cluster.
I am suprised you used kerosene …. does that not make the soil toxic?
Interesting. Thanks for sharing
Wow, so labour intensive!
What an interesting lesson on growing bananas. Thank you 💚
For harvesting just cut the plant first and then separate the cluster,
Cut the trunk 1/3 of its length. Then it sends its energy to its babies.
As always an informative video. I have inground garden compost bins that I put all my kitchen scraps straight into the gardens. And the last few months since they have been in the gardens the worm life has exploded. Banana skins are one thing that I make sure that are put into the compost system, and it has had wonderful benefits to my gardens. I have the most amazing crop of vegetables growing and everything looks so healthy. And it is a very easy system for me as normal composting is just to hard for me with medical issues. The Weedy Garden is looking absolutely amazing so vibrant and healthy. But then it helps when it’s located in gods country, my hometown very close by.
thank you 🥰
I’ve never tried growing bananas (I’m in Victoria) but I know people have done it in our climate! How gorgeous they grow well in a family… bit like us! Beautiful view looking up through the tree tops:) I learnt so much from this, THANKYOU! Have an awesome day ☺️💐🌷Anita. X
Lol…David, what an incredible video! I love it. I totally miss growing bananas in Florida as well as an over abundance of Papayas.

He's killing puppy's with kerosene and is feeding the granny to her kids and grandkids…. I love you man!
Jst cut them, no need for kerosene, works for me in Panama
Just discovered you!
Instant like & subscribe.
Great learning tips as I've got baby banana plants to plant out once i get my front yard ready!
Thank you!
thank you, brother !
…I Wish
Great video and I’ve really loved your films over the years, but I am surprised about the kerosene/diesel solution, surely that’s not good for your soil? I realise you’re wanting to keep the shape of your beds so you can mow your paths and keep it all accessible, what does Jeff Lawton do? I’ve planted a pup here in Spain, in a grove with guava and avocado. Thank you for the inspo over the years 🙏
Your vedio making is great content is good teaching peace how come you have only 1.5 k subs strange 🤔 ? algorithm
Yum yum 😋
Great video! The information will come in handy. Thank you ❤
We're trying to grow bananas in Portugal. I know its possible because I have seen some growing in the neighborhood. Looks like we'll have to protect them during winter though.
Hey David, where did you buy yr Thai Dwarf Bananas here in Oz? Thank you for making this video, none of my bananas will flower, now I know why. 🙏💕🇦🇺
Is "pup" an american thing? Those are suckers as far as I'm concerned.
Sigh….. How I'd love to live somewhere I could grow bananas! 😅
Absolutley love your videos!
Not only are they informative but they make me smile and feel good! I love looking how green, beautiful and tranquil life can be!❤

Dear Weedy , Have you any bad neigbours as you live your life away from the bullshit . Can you cut ties from control and live free . Do you have to pay the killers of the earth?
Ive followed your whole journey from the start back in lockdown. Your garden has grown very much like my allotment and also as a surprise we also got bee hives around the same time. I now go into my daughters school doing talks about soil microbes. Maybe 1 day il have to confidence to start a youtube channel too. Keep growing brother
Im off to Lidl to buy some bananas!! Love the videos ❤👍🏻
I can’t believe you take babies away from their families 😢😱 . I hope your mycelium network is strong enough for them to still stay in contact after the separation 9:16
Idk if y’all have ever cut down a banana tree but they stink so bad
Chop the tree then when slowly falling down u can catch the cluster , easier
Watched a few of your videos for the first time tonight & I love your channel. Keep up the great work!
I love your energy mate. Thanks for sharing
WoW! Is that Gandalf in the garden? That would be a miraculous garden, I think.
Every time I watch your videos and hear your voice, it leaves a feeling of home in my heart. Greetings from Munich❤
I love LOVE Musa, our banana circle is only a few months old which you can see on our channel, I'm getting lots of pups… BUT whilst my Ensete are getting much bigger my cavendish are just chucking out pups, and not increasing in size?? Anyone any advice?
Hermoso el contenido gracias gracias gracias ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Huge fan of your work. The kerosene thing seemed barbaric but will try the alt eco friendly option you commented about.
No tool is complete without a bit of duct tape 😉😆
Ps .. hacksaw works well too, for cutting them down after harvest. V cut part way thru, and push. Very easy to cut down 😄.
Dave
That was brilliant
I love banana trees (grass) and am planting them anywhere there is a free spot in my yard at Springwood in the Blue Mountains 🍌
Wonderful! ❤️ This Monkey heartily approves 🐵🍌
Yr gd allrite weedy and very gorrilliy wee r th gaudianz of Gaia radical roots compost clay and permaculture buy design ameni
Thanks for the lesson, and happy attitude ! although i’m not in the right climate, the peel method and just the better knowledge of the plant is great to have !
…forgot to say, after to cut down the banana plant the stem should be opened (cut lengthwise) to avoid an anaerobic decomposition.
There are black seeds inside the banana !
Your videos are such a lift up!
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing
