David Davis is one of many Brexiteers who sold the referendum as a means to improve the lives of ordinary people. “There will be no downside to Brexit, only a considerable upside” he said back in 2016. When replying to a potential cost, he said it was a price worth paying for “freedom”.

  1. Freedom to control you; freedom to ignore laws that protect you; freedom to treat the UK as a piggy bank; freedom to strip away workers' rights; freedom to pollute; freedom to break international laws and treaties; freedom to peddle racism; freedom to shut down your opportunity to work, live and study in 27 EU countries….how long as have you got, Davis, you gobes**te goon?

  2. I feel your frustration Max 🤬 Alas I think we're dealing with such massive egos and levels of arrogance that they even believe the lies they tell themselves. As for why people still believe anything that comes out of their mouths and even more so still give them a platform….🙄

  3. MR you got there in the end but it took a while. ‘Well if it cost £4000, at least I’ve got my freedom.’ ‘What does that mean?’ Isn’t the follow up question to pin down a Brexshit. The question is, ‘oh yes, do tell me, what is that freedom you’ve gained that you didn’t have before?’

Maybe you could help them out with some friendly suggestions. ‘Is it the longer and more bureaucratic customs and immigration checks that you now have to go through when you arrive in Holland for a hen party? or Italy, or the south of France for a summer holiday? Is it the freedom to delight in the array of new forms to fill in when you want to sell and transport your goods into the EU when you set off for Zeebrugge? Maybe it’s telling your son the university student in Germany that he won’t have to go through the bother of applying for the Horizon programme he was looking at because British students no longer qualify? Or perhaps it’s just the appreciation you’ve gained of the cycles of nature you’re now able to enjoy as you watch the apples ripening, then dropping off the trees and rotting in your orchard because there were no temporary workers to be had to help you pick and gather them?’

‘Oh but I’m sorry, I should be letting YOU tell me, all the advantages encompassed in that freedom you’ve gained from the UK leaving the EU, because I’m sure it must be wonderful and so exiting. Do tell me all, please!’

  4. Davis had tried his hand at a range of jobs and other bits of tom-foolary and was not a success at any thing. So the obvious bolt hole for people like him was to chance his arm at plitics but that trned out (apart from the money) to be another failure of achievement. David's problem is that his ambitions and aims massively swamp his brain capacity. Howerer he dreams on just like the lottery punter who hopes to win the jackpot.

  5. Remember the photo of Davis meeting EU officials? The EU officials had reams of relevant paperwork and files, Davis didn't even have a pen or a notebook. What a dimwit!

  6. Is Davis still employed as a consultant by JCB?
Wonder who the building company guy was – and what he thinks now?

  7. The freedom to go to jail for a peaceful protest. The freedom to choose whether to turn your heating on and go into debt. The freedom to decide not to buy things because you can't afford them anymore.
    Gotta love that Sovereignty!

  8. Davis the man that couldn't be bothered negotiating the exit form the EU, so he quit.

  9. Brexiters' "freedom" = a free-for-all. A libertarian, deregulated, low tax haven free of inconveniences such as consumer, worker and environmental protections.

  10. I could not comprehend how this man could turn up at the negotiating table in Brussels without a single file , memo, paper. He was cutting a staggeringly nincompoopish figure…. The EU side of the table was silently aghast.
