  1. This dude is so cocky I can’t stand him. Dial it down a notch bud

  2. Bay Area California checking in. Wish they would have asked if he hit the pasta queen though lol.

  3. MO is amazing. I didn’t like that entitled yuppie talking down to Mo like if he’s hot stuff never heard of him. Mo shouldve been giving him advice

  4. The difference between Italian Americans, and Italian Canadians, is night and day. ICs are all about keeping to their culture. No learning the language. Recipes are from back home. And by back home I mean their village. Not the major town, province or region. IAs are more about mixing "Italian" culture with American culture. Very interesting.

  5. I love this podcast so much. The only relatable podcast as a young Italian American second gen these chats feel like home. MO reminds me of just about every single uncle I have I showed my mother and she pissed herself. “It’s Anthony carmine and Sal in one😂”
If you QCP needs a pizzeria Mano’s in Ridgewood has gotchu. Love you fellas.

  6. It would be interesting to know why QCP's non-Italian classmates "looked down" on him. The probable answer: Because of endless media stereotypes Italians, all negative. To quote actor Stanley Tucci, a proud Calabrese: "Hollywood's idea of an Italian American is a guy from Brooklyn named Vinny with a gold chain around his neck." Bingo. Just what this podcast keeps perpetuating, sadly.

Yet QCP is from North Carolina, as was Joseph Cardinal Bernadin, the archbishop of Chicago. Senator Joe Manchin is from West Virginia; his real name is "Mancini." And governor Ron DeSantis of Florida? Italian American to the core (four grandparents). They're as different as pesto and vinegar.

In short, "growing up Italian" is so much more than food, food, food or "East Coast." Kudos to QCP for at least recognizing that Italian food names should be pronounced correctly, and that learning the Italian language (not a dialect) is the first step in truly connecting with genuine Italian culture. Bravo!
