🎥 Wine Spectator Top Ten Wines of 2022 REACTION: https://youtu.be/4g2pnYpLo6I
Matthew, I love the content you produce. I am a beverage director at a country club in PA and I love checking out your channel for new wines I may not have thought of sharing with my cliental
So interesting to compare! Definitely a few common wines. Cheers!
Well. got the Fontafredda in my local supermarket for 20 usd… never bought it before, since i hate low quality Barolo.. but picked up 2 bottels, just to try.. might be pure win 🙂
Interesting to compare your picks with those of Attorney somm. A few common choices: St Joseph, Yarra PN and Kabinett spring to mind.
Wine and tastes are so individual that I don't usually take much notice of lists, except for a bit of fun.
One thing I notice in many US based wine videos is the ridiculously high price of wine there, compared with here in the UK.
Fortunately, I have already purchased most of the wines for laying down that I will need, except for the odd half case of white. I can now confine myself to drinking those and buying the occasional bottle of top wine as a treat.
I agree that this is a much more representative list than the top 10 was. Interesting to see that dry Tokaij on there, although I think a Tokaij aszu might have been more appropriate. Good to see a bunch of Pinots make the list, a big omission from the top 10, although still pretty US heavy on the pinot producers. Might have liked to see a Domaine Nico Pinot (my go to Burgandy substitute) or something similar on there. Pretty fun list though. Great video, I've got some new wines to try!
Some iconic wines there and some I'm not familiar with. Great video as always.
I also loved the R Kabinet! Gooooood stuff, it's one of my Thanksgiving wines this year (Plus Weiss old vines Riesling). And I found a some other CDR Red with a screwcap for the trifecta of juicy and friendly wines to share ^_^
We work at the winery that got number 16 from Paso Robles (the Beautiful Earth Red) and were totally looking forward to your review. If you ever catch yourself in Paso Robles definitely stop by!
First Riesling at about #30?? 🤨🙄
Oh, well….Herman Wiemer WR made the list, at least.
Thanks
Your lower cost alternative wine recommendations of higher cost wines is great!
I love hearing you speak german 😂😊
I prefer this reaction even to the top 10 video. Very strong content
Now I know why you like Vinous Media recommendations.
Giant Steps Chardonnay(Not Pinot Noir). I thought is was Very light. 91 pts. No bad flavors, but I'd rather have El Enemigo for $20. Same flavor profile(LIGHT Wht Burg.), can age 5-7 years.
JL Chave, both White & Red Hermitage. 1969(great) White in about 1993(Almonds & hazelnut smell & flavor) 96-97 points. 1990 Red in ~2002(Elegant, but complex flavors). 100 pts.
Both spectacular wines. Like pornography, I can't define it but I Know it when I see it!
Great video as always!! Would love to see some travel vlogs from you for Riesling in Germany 😉
Riesling is an insane grape varietal. Producing wines from many different ranges and styles. Also some of the most age worthy white wines, as well as the most intense and powerful.
The fact that it is so under appreciated blows my mind.
People, go buy some reislings. They make them all around the world. My favorites come from Austria!
You should do a review of James Sucklings top 100 list too!!
Love this new reaction video. Actually the "Taurasi Riserva 2017" from Mastroberardino is only 20 dollars at the moment here in Campania, talk about value for money! You should do a reaction about James Suckling's top 100 as well!
Jumps straight over the NZ wine at #13 😢 , why you gotta hate on the Kiwi’s man? You sick of Sav?😂
Great energy doc… Wow that Oakville is expensive, I want to try it!!!
Just curious, what regions are on those maps in the background?
I'm glad you gave the Pinot grigio a shout… I know PG has a reputation as either bad or boring, but like you said when you have a really good bottle it's eye opening.
Becoming a huge fan of yours, glad to see your popularity growing! Love your style, content and delivery. Next year will be a breakthrough year, I can guarantee it! #100k+
Great video Matthew … I love dry Riesling, sweet Riesling is like lemonade 🤮
Hi Matthew, loved the video! Was really suprised seeing the Goru verde in this year's top 100, I work at a wine store where we sold the Goru verde (and still sell the goru tinto and blanco). The Goru Verde is 100 percent Monastrell, and I think the wine is aged only 3 months in oak, whilst the Goru tinto that you tasted in your other video has a bit more oak aging and is a blend of Monastrell Syrah and CS, they are really different so I would not count them as the same wine!
Blanc de blanc, no pinot. Correct?
Really enjoyed this overview of well rated wines, glad the price points were mentioned. Not everyone has unlimited wine budgets! We still want to shop with out breaking the budget.
Nice selection, I just wished WINE SPECTATOR would also help smaller houses and producers…. maybe they could do a TOP 100 discoveries ?
