ABOUT ME:

In 2018, I decided I wanted to change my life and relocate to Italy. I didn’t know anyone there, I didn’t speak the language and I had only visited the country twice before. Just eight months after I had made this decision, I packed up my suitcases and moved solo from London to Italy, embarking on my very first Expat experience. On paper it sounds completely bonkers but in reality it was the making of me.

On this channel I serve up a slice of real Italian life, through weekly vlogs and videos. I also share tips on how to navigate life as an Expat in Italy, coping strategies, lessons learnt and my unique insight into life as a Brit in Italy.

  1. 750 euro for a little apartment not in centre of Salerno ? Gosh, I thought it cost something less….(600…)
Sure, in London perhaps the average salaries are higher, but despite all the cost of living is REALLY higher…Ciao ! ; )

  2. Very good points. I've lived near London for many years, and comparing prices in my case to Rome (where I've been planning to go more longer-term), I've noticed a huge difference. Food, eating out, transport, property prices etc.
In terms of food, it tends to be much fresher, more options (of the foods I like) and cheaper… so what's not to like? 🙂

  3. Yes prices are quite hefty in London. Eating out is a joke and the food I have eaten in some restaurants is not of good quality.. thanks for sharing

  4. Love that you talk with your hands. What would you say a tropical meal for two people at a moderately priced Salerno restaurant would cost? Yes I know it depends what you buy but just you and your boyfriend as an example. I felt London was a bit pricey compared to Other places

  5. Great info, grazie! Southern California is very expensive too. Average 1 bedroom apt/flat ~$2000 (€1700), higher if near the beach. Bottle of decent wine $12 (€10), pint of craft beer $7 (€6), Margherita pizza $13 (€11), 1 shot espresso $1.75 (€1.50). Our public transit is poor, so you pretty much have to have a car to get to work, etc, and we pay a ton for health care. Oh, and US mobile plans are more expensive than Italy. Yes, our salaries are higher, but it costs so much more to live here.

  6. Interesting points. As someone who lives in the North of Italy (Lombardia), I find I spend the same as London excluding transport (have my own). However, when in the South the cost was drastically low and was able to save a lot. Mind you when in London there’s so much going on and all is to be paid for. In the South of Italy while there are less activities to do, you can at least arrange outdoor activities which are free. The thing with London is gentrification is driving up massive increases, Brixton for example was an undesirable and low priced area until 5 years ago, Croydon has great public transport links so that also lead to gentrification happening. I know people who invested in South of Italy, and it turned out better to rent as you mention, as renting in the area was cheap and selling it was difficult as not many were able to put offers relating tot he market. The main thing that keeps me in North Italy most of the year compared to London is the crime rate and weather.

  7. Felt in love 10 times whit you watching this video … You are really beautiful im going to Sicyli now .

  8. I paid £8.50 for a pint of beer in standard pub the other day couldn't believe it can't wait to get out this country
