Lucca is a city located on the west coast of Italy, in Tuscany.
Lucca has all the characteristics of a Tuscan city: Renaissance walls, a large old town, great restaurants, plenty of monuments and numerous typically Italian stores selling wine, souvenirs and artwork.
A bike path has been built around the Renaissance walls, surrounding the entire center. The town squares are very important in Lucca. Piazza dell Amfiteatro – a very distinctive oval square with townhouses around it. The square was built on the site of a former Roman amphitheater, hence its unusual shape. The square can be accessed through gates in the arcades of the townhouses.
Piazza San Michele, in this square is the church of San Michele in Foro, built in the 7th century, which is the most beautiful church in the city.
