Sweet and sour borretane onions

The origin of this recipe come from Emilia region (Borreto town), this side dish is perfect with many types of roasted meats, such as beef braised in wine, they can be served also as an appetiser, eaten with cold cuts.
It’s a very simple recipe, try it as complement to your roasted meat dishes.

600g (20oz) (1,3lbs) borretane onions
80ml (2,7floz) water
3 tsps vinegar
1 tbsp sugar
1 pinch of salt
