My Italy Pilgrimage in October 2019
Attended with a group from Church of St. Michael in Farmington, MN and Church of St. Peter in Forest Lake, MN.
Pilgrimage leaders were Father Ben Little and Father Daniel Bodin.
Itinerary included:
– Walking tour of Orvieto with evening mass celebrated at Duomo De Orvieto.
– Excursion to Assisi. Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. Tour of the upper town including a visit to the Basilica of St. Claire and St. Francis’ Basilica.
– Winery tour in Montefalco with tasting including the famous “Sangrantino,” one of the best Italian Wines.
– Full day excursion to Florence. Celebrate mass at the Church of San Marco. Visit the Accademia Gallery which housed the statue of David by Michelangelo.
– Celebrate Mass in the Benedictine Abbey of Farfa. Homemade pasta making and lunch at a local farm.
– Walking tour of Ancient Rome. Roman Forum, Circus Maximus, Palatine Hill, the Arch of Constantine and the Colosseum.
– Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica. Tour St. Peter’s Basilica which houses Michelangelo’s statue of the “Pieta”.
– PRIVATE tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Visit the Raphael rooms and view Michelangelo’s masterpiece Last Judgement and Sistine Chapel ceiling.
– Excursion to Castel Gandolfo to visit the Apostolic Palace, the former summer home of the Pope, and the Barberini Gardens.
– Visit St. Peter’s Square for a Papal Audience and mass hosted by the Pope.
– A lot of Gelato, a lot of food, and a lot of walking.
