Today I will show you how to make basic Italian GNOCCHI (NYOHKEE), it is prepared with different flours and varieties of vegetables (I use pumpkin in english, zucca in Italian, and kalabasa in Tagalog word), but the most common one prepared here in Italy is the potato gnocchi using semolina flour. This recipe is taught to me by my mother in law mamma Uccia.

Now, the question really that came to my mind when I am thinking for the title of my video is, is gnocchi considered pasta? Pasta is made from wheat flour, water, and egg. So I research and came accross to the definition of wikipedia saying that gnocchi or (gnoccho in singular) are a variety of pasta, but then as I go on reading it says all of a sudden…that, “the little DUMPLINGS are then pressed with a fork or a cheese grater to make ridges that can hold sauce.” So, is it a dumpling or pasta? I always thought of it as pasta because I always saw it in a menu of pasta when it is technically a dumpling.

Anyway I will not go further let’s just enjoy our my GNOCCHI di ZUCCA o GNOCCHI KALABASA PASTA! salute! Happy healthy eating!
