I recently flew Air Italy ( from Los Angeles to Sardinia via their hub in Milan. Here’s a look at the food and food service on the return long-haul flight, from MXP to LAX.
Overall it was a good experience, good food, great service and an excellent wine selection. It’s a la carte dining, you can eat whenever you want, you don’t need to eat during the scheduled meal services. We took off from Milan around 2 p.m. and they served a dinner a few hours after takeoff. There was a light snack served in the middle of the flight and a breakfast served about two hours before landing. The flights are done on A330 aircraft and it takes about 12 hours.
