The Arco de’ Tolomei in Rome

A delightful discovery on the city B&B scene in Rome is the Arco de’ Tolomei, a sprawling ancient home on various levels situated in the Trastevere neighborhood, full of character with its narrow cobblestone streets, ancient buildings and excellent restaurants.

Opening their cleverly restored home to guests was a natural choice for owners Signori Marco and Gianna Paola.

The home is made up of two distinct sections divided by a terrace complete with pergola, vines and gravel pavement.

An independent street entrance opens to a split level with stairs going up to five charmingly appointed bedrooms, three with their own small terrace, floral wallpaper, family antiques and nice new bathrooms.

The remaining two rooms are down a level off the cozy living room and formal dining room where a buffet breakfast is served around one large table.

Rooms are named after the ancient roads that lead to the capital city and are still in use today: Salaria, Appia, Latina, Cassia, and Tiburtina Valeria.

A gracious hostess and movie actress, Signora Gianna Paola enjoys suggesting interesting itineraries in ancient Rome, all within easy reach from the home.

The famous Trastevere restaurants, with their outdoor seating, are within walking distance.

Special discount for stays over 4 nights.
