It’s Amy with a video of Nonna’s pasticcio. A pasticcio is a lasagna and can be filled with lots of different things. Sadly this isn’t a how-to-traditional-Italian-recipe video because Nonna Isetta (short for Elisabetta) doesn’t have any of her recipes written down with measurements and trying to write all that down would have made things very complicated. Despite that, I still wanted to show a small part of my life living next door to my husband’s maternal grandmother.

Nonno Beppi (short for Giuseppe), Max’s grandfather passed away four years ago and she’s been on her own since then but she’s still very independent and does everything on her own. She now wants to make sure to pass down as many recipes as she can to her great-grandkids so I thought it would be nice to document not only the making of traditional Italian food but the relationship between great-grandmother and great-grandkids.

Nonna Isetta loves cooking and making sure we are all well-fed; she truly is a stereotypical Italian grandmother (twice over). I hope to make more videos of her and the kids cooking together. Hopefully we’ll be more organized and have ingredient lists and measurements next time.

I hope you come back for more!
