A&Z #825 – Atlas vs Tops Tavern’s 45″ Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich Challenge at Tops Tavern in Rosemount, Minnesota. Hey everybody!! Back in mid-December 2019, as part of my “4th Quarter 2019″ Food Challenge Tour, I traveled from Louisville, Kentucky to Eau Claire, Wisconsin for an ice cream challenge, and then to the Minneapolis / St Paul Twin Cities area of Minnesota for more food challenges. For challenge event #2, I went to Tops Tavern in Rosemount, MN which is southeast of St Paul and the Twin Cities area. For this challenge I had to finish five of their 9″ long Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches plus 2lbs of their fries, separated into two 1lb baskets. There is a total of 50 ounces of meat used plus lots of American cheese slices, and diced onions too. In front of a big and much appreciated crowd, I had 1 hour to finish and win my $45 meal free plus a spot on their Wall of Fame. Thanks so much to Van and Jackie the owners and their staff for the wonderful food and hospitality, and thanks to all the people who came to watch and meet me that December evening!! Tops Tavern’s 45″ Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich Challenge ($45):
Tops Tavern serves 9″ long and 18″ long Philly cheesesteak sandwiches and for this challenge, you must finish five of their 9” long cheesteaks, totaling 50 ounces of cheesesteak meat plus lots of American cheese slices and diced onions, all served on fresh French baguette loaves. In addition to all the sandwiches, challengers must also finish two 1lb baskets of Tops Tavern’s fries. There is a 1 hour time limit to finish the roughly 6lb food challenge. Winners receive the $45 meal free, a sweet t-shirt, and their photo gets added to the Wall of Fame. Call ahead and schedule your challenge beforehand if interested.
