Drone footage showed Rome’s historical landmarks empty on Tuesday as the city celebrated the 2,773th anniversary of its founding amid Italy’s ongoing coronavirus lockdown.
Some of the busiest landmarks of the city, such as main shopping street Via del Corso, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona or Trevi Fountain appeared unprecedentedly quiet as the city faces the coronavirus lockdown to curb the epidemic.
As of Thursday, Italy has 189,973 cases of coronavirus and 25,549 fatalities, as compiled data by Johns Hopkins University shows.
