Fio’s was a new Italian restaurant on the corner of 5th and F downtown. In 1990 the Gaslamp was just beginning to draw crowds. Fio’s was popular so naturally the eater wanted to check it out. Only problem was they didn’t want him to go inside. Watch the story and find out why. But anchor/reporter Lorraine Kimel and Jim are clever people so they ordered the food to go. It was a sight to see and some curious folks wanted to know what was going on. I suppose it’s not every day you see a well dressed television anchor eating take-out on a newspaper stand. No wonder it was Jim’s favorite review. Fio’s had a change of heart and he was welcome there for many years to come.
