We travel through Le Marche and Emilia-Romagna regions of Italy, best known for their unique Italian wine and regional Italian cuisine. Our food tours of Italy are a food and wine lover’s paradise. Italian cuisine served over mouth-watering lunches, magnificent dinners and other Italian food and wine experiences.
We begin our Italian food tour in Ascoli Piceno, the heart of the Le Marche region.
Italy wouldn’t be Italy without a culinary food and wine tour. Your Italian food tour starts in the hills behind Ascoli Piceno. We visit the stunning Italian village of Offida, home to skilled artisans and local Italian winemakers. We call into a local enoteca for an Italian wine tasting of Le Marche’s spectacular wines. Here we will introduce you to the heavenly Passerina and Pecorino Italian wines.
By exclusive invitation, we then travel to an exquisite winery at Ripatransone where we experience some truly exceptional boutique Italian wines. Lunch is served by the seaside at Grottammare where we sample the impressive local Italian dishes prepared by a very talented international chef.
Truffles are used by the best chefs around the world, and our food tours of Italy take you to a secret location in the Sibillini Mountains to meet a local Italian truffle hunter and his dogs. We then sample these highly prized truffles in the little Italian village of Montefortino.
The first of our Italian cooking classes commences with a walk through the bustling local markets in Ascoli Piceno. It’s here we gather our ingredients for our Italian cooking class at a local Italian villa.
Exclusive to Carolinasusi Italia Tours, we meet one of the surviving members of the local aristocracy as she takes us on a tour of her historic biological garden. This is followed by a visit to a frantoio where we will see how the precious Italian olive oil is processed.
Departing Ascoli Piceno, our guided food tours of Italy travel to beautiful Bologna, the Italian food capital of this magnificent region.
In Bologna we combine sightseeing with the food markets, and enjoy tasting some of the local Italian wines. This is also the region where Lambrusco wine is produced
On to Comacchio, known as “little Venice” due to its network of canals. Comacchio provides Italian culinary connoisseurs with an opportunity to sample the local fish delicacy, fried eel.
As a further introduction to the Italian food of Bologna, we head back to the local markets to collect the ingredients for our second Italian cooking class.
Modena is renowned for its production of the highly prized “aceto balsamico tradizionale”. We visit an artisan who makes the authentic balsamic vinegar. This region of Italy can’t be seen without visiting the home of another famous Italian icon, the Ferrari!
Our food tour of Italy then travels to Parma for the world famous Parmigiano cheese. Our small group tour then heads to a Prosciutto di Parma producer in the Valle di Castrignano.
On our final day, we take you to the UNESCO protected Renaissance city of Ferrara. Our food tours of Italy would not be complete without an opportunity to experience one last wine tasting featuring the local Italian Lambrusco wine!
