So why is this project called Kentucky Lasagna?  The first part of the name obviously references the bourbon barrel, and that it was used to hold some sweet brown spirit from the bluegrass state.  The “Lasagna” part is a little more symbolic, with a reference to “layers.”   Literally, the layers reference the Italian field blend that the wine is comprised of, and on the other hand it symbolically nods to the idea that this wine is built like the actually food Lasagna, with stick to your ribs goodness, leaving you with a feeling of overwhelming comfort. There are also many layers of flavor, yes definitely filling, with zingy dark red raspberry, mocha, caramel and a soft vanilla note on the finish.  The barrel adds a nice silky texture to the wine as well.

With this project, our intentions were to create a wine that brings people together and to offer something comforting, yet new and exciting.  While currently, we can’t gather in groups, we could all use a LOT of comfort.  Cheers!
