Today, my sister Corinna is going to show how to make the traditional Italian biscuits “baci di dama”. The so called “baci di dama, or “lady’s kisses” in English, are over 100 years’ old. Their shape which is formed by two round biscuits held together by a layer of dark or milk chocolate, clearly resembles the lips of a woman. Thus, their name. As usual, they require only a few ingredients and are very easy to make. Enjoy them!

INGREDIENTS
80gr of sugar
150gr of regular flour
100gr of softened butter
50 gr of skinned almonds
50 gr of roasted hazelnuts
Salt

PREPARATION
Grind the almonds and hazelnuts together.
Mix the ground nuts with butter, sugar and flour. Add a couple of pinches of salt.
Work the dough with your hands until it’s homogenous and you can make a ball with it.
Wrap the dough ball with plastic film and place it in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
Remove the dough from the fridge. Make little balls of dough and place them on a baking tray.
Cook in the oven at 160C (320F) for approximately 30 mins.
Let the biscuits cool down. Once they are cool, take two biscuits, spread a layer of softened dark or milk chocolate on the flatter side and stick them together. This is your “bacio” (kiss)!
They are best served with coffee, tea or cappuccino.

BUON APPETITO! 🙂
