Easy to cook Apple and Onion Salad – 17th century recipe “Salat of Apples and Onions”.
1 medium apple
1/2 medium sweet onion
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1-2 tsp. red wine vinegar
1/2 tsp. malt black pepper
Peel and cut apple and onion into similar size pieces. Put oil, vinegar, and pepper. Mix it all. And that is – the salad ready to serve!
This salad is really very simple, easy to cook and take from you about 10 minutes. As always in old recipes the quantities are estimates. You can vary the amounts according to your personal taste. Even you can change ingredients – take vegetable oil, plant oil, seed oil instead olive oil, apple cider vinegar or even regular vinegar instead red wine vinegar. Once I made this salad changed apples and onions to salad leaves and eggs – my family liked it very much as well!
