The name of J.A.Logy is mainly known by the TOMBEAU SUR LA MORT DE M. COMTE DE LOGY which is one of the most famous works by S.L. Weiss. His father was so succesful as a controler of wine, bear and salt for the court that he became the title of Earl of Logy in the valley of Losi (Bohemia) in 1655. His son studied in Prague, became a famous luteplayer and composed 150 works for lute and guitar. Based in Prague he travelled through Italy and France and his favorite composer was J.B.Lully. His style combines french, italian and german manners. Karl Scheit published this excerpt of the longer suite in 1952.
