The death toll from the coronavirus in Australia continues to climb.
New South Wales health authorities have confirmed a 9th fatality, bringing the national toll to 20.
Globally, the death toll has surged past 40,000 – half of those in Spain and Italy – and the number of confirmed cases in the US continues to surge, likely to hit 200,000 in the next 20 hours.
