A new coronavirus hospital and intensive care centre built in 10 days were inaugurated at Milan’s Fair, in the town of Rho on Tuesday.
The new hospital is located at Milan’s Fair site and will admit its first 12-24 patients on Monday, according to reports citing Lombardy Welfare Councillor Giulio Gallera.Once fully operational, the hospital will reportedly have 200 intensive care units and 220 anesthesiologists, with about 500 nurses.
Over 1,200 donors contributed to the realisation of the hospital, with a total of 21 million euros (US$23 million) being collected.
Lombardy is the hardest-hit Italian region by COVID-19, with 43,208 cases and 7,199 deaths as of Tuesday evening.
