ABOUT THIS VIDEO
This is a ‘day in the life’ vlog about life in Jeddah جدة, Saudi Arabia, during the coronavirus (covid19) pandemic. The papers have just announced that there are now 1,104 cases of coronavirus in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I am currently well and self-isolating / social distancing with Adam in our apartment in Jeddah. I hope you are your family are well and safe too!
Life has changed a lot in the last month here in Saudi due to coronavirus. The malls, cinemas, gyms, beaches and parks are all shut. International and domestic flights have been suspended until further notice. Schools and Universities are closed and have gone online. All large events have been cancelled. They have even suspended praying at the mosques, which is a big deal for Saudi!
People are expected to stay at home unless they have an essential job (doctors, nurses, supermarket workers etc.) We are pretty much confined to the house, unless we want to go on a walk or to the supermarket. They have taken a very different approach here compared to England, where we are from. In a way it feels quite containing having such strict rules.
