Mylab gets commercial approval for COVID-19 test kit
The test kit by the company is the first ‘Made in India’ kit to receive commercial approval from CDSCO.
It is named as Mylab PathoDetect COVID-19 Qualitative PCR kit, the company said in a statement.
Local sourcing of test kits will be a major breakthrough for India as the testing kit by Mylab would cost nearly one-fourth of the current procurement cost.
Moreover, Mylab’s COVID-19 test kit screens and detects the infection within 2.5 hours as compared with over 7 hours taken by current protocols, it added.

Karnataka reports seven new cases of Covid-19. Total number of cases in the state is now 33.
The new positive cases include two from neighbouring Kerala, and five from Bengaluru.
“Till date 33 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state which includes one death,” the department said in a bulletin.
31 patients are in isolation at designated hospitals and are stable.
The fresh cases include two men from Kerala with a travel to history to Dubai. Both arrived on March 22.

Suspected COVID-19 patient dies in HP’s Kangra
A 24-year-old woman who recently travelled from the USA and showed possible symptoms of coronavirus died at a private hospital in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra.
Her samples were sent for testing to Tanda’s Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College but she died before the arrival of the report.

The use of hydroxy-chloroquine is recommended for healthcare workers involved in the care of suspected or confirmed Covid-19 cases.
