Grand Central Terminal is officially expanding its culinary footprint this fall.

Osteria Centrale and Mercato Centrale are arriving as two complementary dining concepts right near Vanderbilt Plaza, transforming the iconic Beaux-Arts landmark into a brand-new gastronomic destination.

Designed by the globally renowned Rockwell Group and operated by The Vizz Group in partnership with the MTA, the space is geared toward both leisurely diners and rushed commuters looking for high-quality food on the run.

A 250-seat Italian oasis

If you have time to sit and unwind, Osteria Centrale is your spot. Spanning an impressive 6,960 square feet, this restaurant features a 250-seat Italian osteria experience and is anchored by a dramatic 50-seat oblong central bar.

It will be open daily from 11 AM to 2 AM, making it an ideal choice for business lunches, a dedicated aperitivo hour, or late-night dining.

Located in the southwest corner of the Terminal on the Main Concourse Level, the restaurant’s design draws inspiration from an Italian spritz garden.

Expect a vibrant, uplifting palette of amber, cherry red, and capri blue, accented by ribbed glass and leather upholstery.

Chef Guillaume Thivet (who also helms Grand Brasserie) is leading the kitchen with an approachable yet sophisticated menu. Highlights include:

Three-tiered towers of salumi and formaggi (starting at $25)

Branzino al cartoccio baked in parchment with olives and capers ($35)

Stufato di manzo with root vegetables and rosemary ($34)

For drinks, you can grab an $18 Positano Spritz (Aperol, Kalamansi, Citrus, Milk-Punch Liqueur, Sparkling Wine) or a Centrale Espresso Martini featuring Amaro Montenegro and a nitro infusion.

Grab-and-go with a major commuter perk

For those racing to catch a train, Mercato Centrale is the ultimate commuter hack. Located by the ramp leading to 42nd Street, this gourmet market will be open daily from 7 AM to 11 PM.

The market is stocked with over 500 grab-and-go products, but the biggest draw is undoubtedly the $1 La Colombe self-serve coffee, available every single day from 7 AM to 11 AM.

It will feature quick self-checkout stations and a hearty to-go menu built for travel, including:

Porchetta Breakfast Wrap with farm eggs, Fontina cheese, roasted tomatoes, and baby spinach ($12.99)

Egg Salad Breakfast Wrap with Japanese egg salad and avocado ($11.99)

Tuna Italiano on Schiacciata bread with Calabrian mayo and Calabrian chili ($14.99)

A variety of soft drinks, kombucha, beer, cocktails, and wine on-the-go.
