2016 Zinfandel, Original Grandpere – 150 years OLD VINE

Planted in 1869, the Original Grandpère Vineyard is one of the oldest documented Zinfandel vineyards in America. Farmed by only four families over its 150-year history, the vineyard produces a very small amount of fruit each year and every ton is prized by winemakers.
Andis is one of only four wineries fortunate enough to get fruit from this vineyard. Our 2016 offering features a rich mouthfeel with flavors of chocolate berries, blueberries, dark fruits, and peppercorns. The finish is long and lingering with spice and creamy oak. An incredible companion to grilled lamb, pork loin, and duck confit.

The California State Fair named it Vineyard of the Year in 2016.

“This gentle giant is full flavored, soft and expansive on the palate and not at all tannic. It’s easy to appreciate the ripe strawberry and brown-sugar aromas, rich and slightly sweet fruit flavors, lightly accented by oak spice, and plush mouthfeel.”

2016 Zinfandel, Estate Grown – 45+ years OLD VINE

Wine is ultimately about the place and there’s no place like home. Our Estate Zinfandel field holds a special place and is where the Andis story took hold. We feel fortunate to have found one of the most sought-after Zinfandel vineyards in the region and to have built the winery amongst these storied vines. Planted in 1978 without the use of rootstock, these old vines produce limited yields of incredibly intense and flavorful grapes each year.
The wine exhibits what we’ve come to expect from this field; a big wine that exudes juiciness, complexity, classic berry and peppery, a rich mouthfeel and a flavorful finish of raspberries and cocoa. Perfectly matched with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, and hearty Italian fare.
