COVID-19
Here in Australia and around the globe people have been really focused on the spread of COVID-19. So we thought we’d take a look at some of the big surprising and even weird ways it’s shaped people’s lives lately.

In Italy, the government’s just announced it’s closing all schools and universities for the next two weeks because of COVID-19. It’s also decided that major sporting events will be played with no crowds. In the UK school is still on but some schools have swapped out handshakes, which can spread germs, for other greetings. And the release of the next James Bond film, No Time to Die, which was due out next month will now be delayed until November. Filmmakers are worried COVID-19 could keep people away.

In China, a robot has been created to help doctors treat COVID-19 patients, without having to do it themselves and risk spreading the disease. In Barcelona French urban climber, Alain Robert climbed a tower with no safety gear. Known as the French Spiderman he has his own superhero message for people worried about COVID-19: “fear is even more contagious than the disease itself.”

WNBL- WINNERS
The University of Canberra Capitals has just become back to back WNBL champions. They defeated the Southside Flyers, 71 to 68. They came back from 10 points down at half-time but the game was decided in the final minute.

AUSSIE RAIN
If you had a very soggy start to the day you’re not alone. Heavy rains have hit across eastern Australia. Melbourne’s had a month’s worth of rain in just 12 hours, thanks to ex-tropical cyclone Esther. It’s brought heavy rain, flooding, and damaging winds.

ASTRONAUT AD
If you have always dreamed of floating through space, building rockets, or even going to mars well now is your chance! NASA is now taking applications for a new crop of Astronauts. The space station is looking for its next generation of space explorers to work on project Artemis. Successful applicants will live and work on the International space station, conduct physical tests for deep space exploration and could even go to Mars. To make the cut they need to be extremely intelligent, a perfect height, incredibly fit and also a US Citizen. They also need at least a master’s degree in STEM plus lots of work experience. The astronauts picked will go through 2 whole years of space training. Applicants have until March 31st to submit.

MANTLED MONKEY
There’s nothing like welcoming a new member of the family to the dinner table. An adorable baby Mantled Guereza at Prague Zoo was born just over a week ago. And for the first time his mum Lucie’s introduced him to the monkey fam! While the unnamed baby stood out a little with his white fur he’ll turn grey and then black and white in a few months!

BUG BUTTER
Belgium is known for its delicious waffles, they’re a regular staple at the breakfast table. But we’re not sure many Belgians have tried Bug Butter Waffles. Researchers are whizzing up fly larvae and adding it to a batter to create a quite normal looking waffle-type thing for people to try. While reviews are mixed scientists say eating bugs could be a high protein environmentally friendly food option in the future!

LLAMA
A guy in the US joked that he would bring a llama to his sister’s future wedding and little did she know he meant it. Shocky the stylish llama was rented just for the big day and looked immaculate in his dinner suit.
