I have always wanted to bake lasagna and when I did, I was so happy and satisfied. This is one of my favorite Italian dishes. It is rich, delicious and so creamy with layers of meat sauce, noodles, white sauce and cheese. I thought it was so complicated but after learning the process, I really enjoyed doing it. Just like me, anyone can do it also.

In this recipe, I used the local brands of cheese. For the white or bechamel sauce, I used Kraft Eden cheese and for the toppings, I used Magnolia Quickmelt cheese. This recipe takes quite a bit of work but believe me, it’s worth the effort.

Ingredients:
For the White Sauce (Bechamel):
* 1/4 cup butter, cubed
* 1/4 cup flour
* 2 cans evaporated milk
* 1 block Eden cheese (165 g), grated
* 1/2 tsp salt
* 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

For the Meat Sauce:
* 1 kg lean ground beef
* 1 large white onion, diced
* 8 garlic cloves, minced
* 1/2 tsp salt
* 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
* 1 tsp Italian seasoning
* 1 small pack tomato paste (70 g)
* 1 pack tomato sauce (1 kg)
* 1 can stemmed mushroom (115 g)
* 1 Magnolia Quickmelt cheese (440 g) – for fillings/toppings

Procedure:
1. Cook Lasagna Noodles as per instructions.
2. For the White sauce – Melt butter in a pot. Add in flour and mix well. Pour the milk, stir, then add the cheese. Stir and cook until cheese is melted and blended well. Once desired thickness is achieved, turn off heat and set aside.
3. For the Meat sauce – Saute onions and garlic in a pan. Add the lean ground beef and cook till it becomes brown. Remove excess oil of the beef while cooking. Add salt, ground black pepper, Italian seasoning and mushrooms. Mix well. Then pour the tomato sauce and stir until fully blended. When done, turn off heat.
4. For the Layering – Start with meat sauce at the bottom. Followed by lasagna noodles. Put meat sauce on top. Then the white sauce and cheese. Repeat process for the second layer starting with the noodles onward.
5. Bake at 350F for 35-45 minutes.
6. Let it cool for 15-20 minutes before serving.
