The death toll of coronavirus cases in Italy has increased by 133 in one day to 366, as more than a quarter of the country’s population is placed in mandatory quarantine.

In the last 24 hours there have been 1,492 new cases, taking the total number of cases to 7,375 from 5,883.

It comes as the government announced that more than a quarter of Italy’s population will be quarantined under extraordinary new measures, to stem the spread of coronavirus.
