In Italy, the European country with the most cases, the number of coronavirus deaths has risen by 49, to nearly 200.
The country’s emergency commissioner put the death rate at just over 4%.
The country now has more than 4,500 cases – among them one in Vatican City. A tenth of patients in Italy have ended up in intensive care.
