Amarone is the fullest style wine made in Italy. The appassimento style of producing wine requires the grapes to be laid out on straw mats in the sun for an extended period of time. The grapes dry out which makes the juices more concentrated, which makes for a more full and complex style wine.
The wine will have a ton of big dark fruit notes of blackberry, cherry cola and plum, all matched by a little raisin quality from the grapes drying out. The finish is warming and extremely long from the body of the wine. There is some time spent in oak, so there is a little spice and richness on the back end.
This is a really great wine that you could drink now or age for the next 10 or 15 years!
