Five olive oils to skip. Four that are actually olive oil. Nine bottles from the same grocery aisle, ranked by what’s actually inside.
69% of imported olive oil labeled “extra virgin” failed independent lab tests at UC Davis. Some brands settled multimillion-dollar lawsuits for fake origin claims. Others sell refined oil in clear plastic bottles while charging premium prices. The label says “extra virgin.” The science says otherwise.
In this video, I break down nine olive oil brands sold across American grocery stores. Every bottle gets the same treatment: sourcing, lab test results, lawsuit history, packaging analysis, and a simple fridge test you can do at home tonight.
You’ll learn why “first cold press” on the label is meaningless, how brands exploit origin labeling loopholes to fake Italian provenance, what the cough test reveals about polyphenol content, why clear bottles destroy olive oil before you even open it, and which brands actually pass independent purity testing.
Every brand gets a fair breakdown. Some of these bottles are functional cooking oils at fair prices. Some are charging premium for product that failed lab standards. And one bottle at Costco delivers polyphenol counts matching artisan oils at a fraction of the price.
Brands covered: Pompeian, Bertolli, Filippo Berio, Great Value, Colavita, Lucini Italia, Cobram Estate, California Olive Ranch, and one brand that changes the entire value equation.

  1. Turns out a lot of ‘extra virgin olive oil’ on the market isn’t even real olive oil… some are low-quality or mixed oils. This video breaks down which brands are actually worth it and which ones to avoid.
Have you ever bought one of these brands before? Which olive oil do you trust the most? Drop it below👇

  2. I don't now how much I trust this information when I've seen Bertolli in dark green GLASS bottles in the supermarket and he says it comes in clear plastic bottles.

  3. Perhaps these Somalis aren’t part of the various nefarious activities. But then they need to visibly distance themselves from all of the crime and corruption that is being perpetrated by their fellow countrymen/women. Easier said than done, to be fair, but that’s the only way that Somalis will be welcome anywhere ever again.

  4. I have bought Moroccan EVOO and have been very satisfied with the quality, the burn at the back of your throat is real.

  5. Thank you 👍🙏 for this!
    Already bought a bottle of
    California 🫒 Olive Ranch,
    100% California ! (Before seeing this!).😊

  6. Why you missed out on some great Greek Olive Oils? I only buy Greek olive oils and prefer the Kalamata Brand. It does leave the peppery taste which I always thought wasn't good but am learning that it is a good thing. Also comes in 2 or 3-liter tins not bottles. Also Italy imports Greek olive oil.
