My dog received only one mandatory rabies vaccine bc from then on when vet said he was due for updated vaccine I had the titers test done which shows if they are still protected by the initial shots. My dog never needed additional vaccines for the rest of his 14 yrs of life. Over vaccination shortens life and causes early illness.
Guys we love your videos, we subscribe, glad to see twigs is doing well – question for you, could you give more updates from VF off season showing what’s open / closed and how is the weather, we’ve be coming to VF twice a year for 8 years we are visiting in May and Sept , possibly in one of Mr Boos Airbnb’s in Sept but we have never been off season so be really useful to get your insights keep up the good work Garry and Julie

Twiggy was obviously very sore. Vets charges here is one the main reasons we don’t have a dog. Far far cheaper inNice which must be top end very informative
One summer I had my female black Labrador/Chesapeake Bay retriever fixed and she left the vet and as quick as a wink she leapt through the open driver side window into the seat!

Back to my French stories from the 90s. When I lived there in Lyon I had a Caniche/Poodle named Cookie.
It must have been before they were chipping; because he had a tattoo in his ear PDX 409. Can't believe I still remember THAT.
My memories of the veterans was wonderful; I believe that the French people's relationship with pet's is something extraordinary.

Sciatica, which I've had too, being 'of an age', is essentially a trapped nerve that has swollen up, not unlike carpel tunnel syndrome. You feel it in your leg(s), but it originates from where the nerve leaves the spine. My only, and best advice, is to stretch your body to take the strain away from the area that's causing the problem. It works for slipped discs as well, up to a point, if it isn't too serious a damage. Hang from a beam of some sort, even use crutches that fit under your arms, both seem to work. It'll be an individual situation, but the longer you release the tension, the better the outcome.
We always had our girls spayed before their first heat because the heat kicks in hormones in them that cause "female problems" later in life. Bless little twiggy

I live in the Charleston South Carolina area in the States and my vet charges $200 for a consultation. I haven't had the "Fix" done yet but I would imagine it is about the same as the UK.

Awww…poor Twiglet….I wish her a speedy recovery from her operation. Before you know it, she'll be as right as rain. My chihuahua, Chico, slept all the time too. Hated going walkies, and adored chicken livers and rice as a treat! He was so spoiled, but he lived to be 14! He loved to travel too just like Twigs, and bask in the warmth of the rear windows behind the seating…lol ❤ HAPPY EASTER TO ALL ❤

Spot Tim on about the extortionate costs of not just healthcare but Food, housing, transportation and necessities that are now luxuries. For many of us it's become unsustainable and why the glimpses we get like this provide some inspiration and hope for a sustainable escape. That is as long as the Dollar remains sustainable longer than we are. Good to see Twiggy moving along well.

Hang in there Twiggy, not all your trips will be to the vet. Re my dogs health insurance in France. I can’t afford huge vet bills. It cost me 500 euros when my 12 year old died! So I decided to buy health insurance for new puppy. After a great deal of frustrating research I choose same company (I THOUGHT) for my puppy it easy 35 euros a month and covered nothing, no shots, no prevention, no flea meds, Basically only a catastrophic illness or injury. It gets higher as they age and at a certain point you can’t buy it. The biggest surprise was when I went to cancel it! They wanted 3 mos notice, I had to do in writing. Then they wanted proof of death ( he didn’t die) my health problems caused me to have him adopted (great new home, he is happy , I’m not). The insurance company would not cancel his health insurance untill I gave them all info on new owner and their signature, won’t tell 😢you what I did and said to this request. Use your imagination, Finally got automatic payment’s stopped. Owning a pet in France is more expensive than having children. The government helps you with kids, no regulations on vets or insurance companies.

The UK animal health certificate (cost £99-£215) lasts only 4 months, so a new one needed for every trip to Europe ?.
In comparison, the EU pet passport (cost 50-70 euros) which never runs out as long as the vaccinations are up to date. I think this is a benchmark as to how poorly brexit was handled by the uk government, and is a constant talking point for uk pet owners.
I was a bit surprised when I looked up the cost of spaying on our local uk vets website. For an ovario hysterectomy with pre and post op care it`s £260 for a female dog under 10kg.

Good luck to Twiggy. Where I live in the UK a 'full package' for keyhole surgery (on a female cat) is £125. A 'rip them open' package is £190. My Maine Coon cat (about the size of a small dog) is getting the £125 package. Your astronomical idea of UK prices must come from a London vet. Their prices are ridiculous. There gain London salaries are equally ridiculous so they ought to pay more anyway.

We call it being 'spayed'. For a Dog spay in Colorado: Typical price ranges
Low-cost, subsidized by donations, clinic: about $25 to $240.
Nonprofit clinic / humane society: about $50 to $375.
Private veterinary clinic: about $250 to $600.
National U.S. average estimates: around $255 to $600.
These dogs are nice , with some herbs and cream not a big helping though.

[BTW – canine pain reilef in the UK is usually for a couple of days when you leave the vet which is woefully inadequate. Dogs can have over the counter pain relief but is a dosage proportional to their size.]
[AND for info my Son's dog needed knee surgery and a metal plate putting into her left back leg because she'd damaged her knee + tendons in a fall. That came to £6,000 !!! thankfully insured. ]
