History:
Tomato Basil Spaghetti is an European variation of a noodle dish, especially in Italy. Italy has had a history of tomato sauce, basil, and spaghetti noodles. Dating back to 1790, found in the cookbook of the Roman chef Francesco Leonardi, tomato sauce made an appearance in European dishes. The historic combination of tomato sauce, basil, and spaghetti reflects the different cultural ingredients that’re famous in Italy. Basil is one of the most popular herb used throughout Italy and was brought to the Mediterranean through the Silk Road trade. As for the spaghetti, Marco Polo brought back the pasta noodle to Europe, where it’s popularity surged.
