1. Make the Dough
In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5โ10 minutes until foamy.
Add flour, cornmeal, salt, olive oil, and butter.
Knead until smooth (8โ10 minutes).
Cover and let rise for 1โ2 hours until doubled.
2. Prepare the Filling
Cook ground beef in a pan until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add onion and garlic; sautรฉ until soft.
Season lightly with salt and pepper. Set aside.
3. Make the Sauce
Heat olive oil in a pan.
Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, chili flakes, salt, and pepper.
Simmer for 15โ20 minutes until thickened.
4. Assemble the Pizza
Preheat oven to 220ยฐC (430ยฐF).
Grease a deep round pan or cast iron skillet.
Roll out dough and press into the pan, covering bottom and sides.
Layer in this order (important!):
Mozzarella cheese (bottom layer)
Cooked meat mixture
Pepperoni slices
Pour sauce on top
Sprinkle parmesan cheese
5. Bake
Bake for 25โ35 minutes until crust is golden and filling is bubbling.
Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing (helps it set).
