Keep your acubra hat and don't lose it. My husband bought his in the Sidney Store in 2005 and forgot it in a train in 2025. And we did the same Tour with the Kuranda Railway and the Sky Trail above the Jungle. Great memories.

So glad you had a great time in my home corner of the world – Cairns/Kuranda! I often wonder what tourists make of Kuranda… it really is such a special magical place, however the tourism sector took such a hit during covid and has never really recovered, so loads of empty shops and markets. It looks like you had a wonderful experience there. Some great vintage finds too… Looking forward to watch your NZ trip. Such a beautiful place… 🙏

Re: the boomerang, my sister brought boomerangs home for my boys and they took them to a local park to try them out. They DO come back, as evidenced by a very bloody trip to the ER we made that afternoon, and the scar on my son's forehead.

I smiled at Jesse holding the stuffed koala. I had one just like it, given to me as part of my Christmas present (December 1973) by my boyfriend in my freshman year at university. I had admired it every time we went into a shop on the edge of campus. It was made of rabbit fur and so very soft. The music box inside played "Waltzing Matilda" (what else?) and I loved it! I kept it all these years and finally gave it to my daughter 5 years ago. I'm not sure, but think she gave it to my granddaughter.

Many have told you, but it is a sporran worn with a Scottish kilt. No surprise since many Irish and Scottish were transported as prisoners to Australia. Doesn't look "ancient" but still really cool. You and Jesse make me want to brave to 24 hour+ travel t o g o there. AND, I'm with Jesse, love the koalas.
