Join me for a virtual tour through the heart of Padua (Padova). Perfect as a day trip from Venice or Verona, Padua offers a rich mix of historic landmarks, Renaissance art, elegant squares, and vibrant local life. In this video, you’ll discover what to see in Padua while soaking in the atmosphere that makes it such a rewarding place to visit.
We begin our tour by visiting the famous Cappella degli Scrovegni, renowned for Giotto’s stunning frescoes. Afterward, we pass by the nearby Chiesa degli Eremitani.
We step into the lively Piazza Garibaldi and then into Piazza Cavour, both bustling hubs where locals gather, followed by a pause at the historic Caffè Pedrocchi, a true symbol of Padua’s café culture.
As we walk past the University of Padua, one of the oldest universities in the world, we arrive at the vibrant Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza della Frutta, markets that have been centers of commerce for centuries. Along the way, we glimpse the impressive Palazzo della Ragione, whose grand hall once hosted medieval courts.
Next, we stroll through Piazza dei Signori and admire the Torre dell’Orologio, before reaching Piazza Duomo, home to the Duomo di Padova and the striking Battistero di San Giovanni Battista.
Our walk leads us to the majestic Basilica di Sant’Antonio di Padova. We continue to the expansive Prato della Valle, a beautiful square perfect for relaxing and watching Padua’s life unfold.
This walk captures the unique mix of history, art, and everyday life that makes Padua one of Italy’s most captivating cities.
