Jamie’s Italian in the UK collapsed in 2019, owing millions of pounds to suppliers and staff.
In a controversial move, Jamie Oliver is now resurrecting the brand with a return in Leicester Square. It’s a bold move, but is it a big mistake?

Cutting pasta with a knife, you've just offended the whole of Italy 🤣
Thanks Greeno, it looked great!
Twist the pasta with the fork inside the spoon.😎
The funny thing I always found is Jamie obviously went to Italy for awhile and learned how to do things. However you'll get people going "this isn't how they do it in Italy" like pouring olive oil on everything………. I've been and they literally pour that stuff on EVERYTHING! Then I'll see Italian chefs laughing at Jamie for it, while doing the same :S I never got the hate for him with a lot of stuff. With Italians, every village and town has a different way of doing things and they all disagree. It's like in the UK and how we have the north/south divide and how some people like ketchup or curry sauce or gravy on their chips, there is no one size fits all. All that said, this looks fine for the money and if he gets hate for this, then he cannot win.
That didnt look like a small sized wine. Crying with that knife through the noodles.
Not a fan of bucatini pasta, find it quite thick and over filling, these pasta dishes although rich in sauce should feel light and fresh too. If i make carbonara at home i try and find Spaghettoni which is basically a slightly thicker version of pasta and if you get a proper authentic one it will have a textured outside because of the way its cut, so the sauce clings on. That being said, the Italian food police are out in force in the comments lol. I'm just gonna skim through and poke them further. there's nothing better than an angry Italian waving their flag about like they invented food
See the sign behind you saying Silk Noodles, that sounds great, would you try next time??? Ravioli fritti with arrabiata sounds very yummie ❤
KNIFE!?
I reckon a chopstick would work well with pasta
Just watched Garys one .
Chinese eat sweet and sour chicken and rice with chopsticks but i still eat it with a knife and fork italian cusine isnt special where you have to eat it a certain way its sauce on pasta with a meat
Greeno. Sometimes you and Gary do yourselves no favours. Posting Jamie Oliver vlogs within 2 days of each other. I don't care if you share ideas and addresses on occasions…this looks a bit like a joint PR push…even if it is not.
Dont ever eat your Pasta that way in Italy Mate, you might get shot 🙂 You use a Fork only and turn it on the plate to get the Pasta around the Fork, thats how to eat properly. The Carbonara is one of my Favourites and it looked very good.
That location won't last, people don't trust the brand and the competition is too strong. I give it a year/18 months
Did you and @GaryEats coordinate your visits? He's probably sitting outside in a howling gale!
Yes Greeno, he’s a brilliant chef but a bit irritating sometimes to watch! He’s got a good heart and cares about kids health. I went to one of his restaurants about 12 years ago in Cambridge. It’s used to be an old bank the architect was stunning, almost like being in a 3 Michelin. Then sadly it closed down. I remember the portion size was ridiculously small. Even back then it was a spaghetti pasta small in the middle of the plate. Just really a folk twist full. For £18 back then!!!
Stop it… Greeno
The carbonara looked gluggy but it’s Jamie Oliver so you have to expect that.
I wouldn't go anywhere near a Jamie Oliver establishment, he's a shyster for having liquidated previous businesses gone into administration. He should be banned from starting up any new businesses. Moreover, he's an overrated chef and his food is crap.
In 2019, Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver purchased Spains Hall, a 16th-century mansion in Finchingfield, Essex, For £6 million. The 70-acre estate, which serves as his family home with wife Jools and their children, includes a farmhouse, Converted stables and a dedicated filming space for his cooking shows. Background: The purchase occurred in 2019 around the time his restaurant chain was going into administration, with the chef describing it as a long-term personal achievement and a "Perfect" family home.
Jamie Oliver is an arrogant person that only cares for himself & his family. He knew he was going into debts months before it was declared & he took full advantage. He also made sure he bought a new home. He should have been forced to live in a caravan & not have the wealth to spend on a new home when he failed to deal with his finances.
Many people cannot stand him & would never visit his restaurants, He also convinced the Government to introduce a sugar tax which annoyed millions of people. Some of us are not obese & eat healthy, Yet we are all now forced to pay for a sugar tax on many things, Which costs us money.
We do not care about him or his restaurants & his family. He is so arrogant that millions of us cannot stand him. He has opened the restaurant with a Business corporation. He should pay back everyone he owes money to, But, This will never happen.
Jamie's in Dundrum town centre has shut down permanently. About two days ago.
this guy is such a cheap skate …he has no idea what an Italian dish is
A knife and fork eating paste ..say no more !
I went last week and it was below average over priced limited Itaian food.
the Food looked lovely, but i wonder this time around Jamie oliver had to give personal guarantees for his business and im assuming his previous suppliers wouldnt deal with him?? hopefully this time around he has a better accountant !!!
