As a Minnesotan I had to wonder how many of the 2026 Women’s and Men’s Olympic Hockey team had ties to Minnesota either and the numbers are about the same 5 players on each of the teams live in Minnesota, a few others either play for Minnesota professional teams or played college hockey in Minnesota. Knowing what Trump has tried to do in Minnesota with ICE, 2 dead US citizens killed while exercising their rights, and of the 4,000+ Trump’s ICE detained 6 people with criminal records ranging from minor infractions. Trump’s ICE terrorized schools, shipped a child to a detention camp, has tried to and continues to try and intimidate US citizens and naturalized citizens alike. The Men’s Team should have followed the example of the Women’s team and shunned Trump and at the very least no Minnesotan should have gone to the White House.

The USA athletes won 12 gold medals, 8 of the 12 gold were won by USA women athletes. That is 2 to 1 compared to the men, yet Trump congratulates the men and says nothing to women. To me that just shows that Trump does not respect women, yet the women were responsible for 21 medals out of the 33 total medals won by team USA.
