Cole Orlick presents a fascinating report on his experience in the summer of 2025 when he joined a team from Illinois State University in an archeological dig of a site near Orvieto on the banks of Lake Bolsena north of Rome. Did you ever dream that you could help preserve the history of ancient Rome while having the experience of a lifetime? Cole Orlick dreamed that dream. And it came TRUE! As a volunteer, he got to work with a team of professional archaeologists on a live excavation site. Cole was an Illinois State University history major with a minor in political science when HE was chosen to be a part of an archaeological dig in southern Italy. On that dig, he discovered an important artifact, a small oil lamp. Presented at Casa Italia Sat. Mar. 7, 2026
