Lobster Mac n Cheese
Ingredients:
½ cup gruyere, shredded
½ cup shredded cheese blend
1 tsp cornstarch
½ can evaporated milk
¼ tsp paprika
¼ tsp dried mustard powder
¼ tsp – ½ tsp cayenne pepper powder
⅛ tsp salt, or to taste
⅛ tsp black pepper, or to taste
1 lobster tail
Directions:
In a pot, boil water and cook the pasta al dente, then drain and reserve around ½ cup pasta water
In a nonstick saucepan, combine the gruyere and shredded cheese blend
Add in the cornstarch and mix
Add in the evaporated milk and place on medium heat
Mix occasionally until the cheese is melted and the sauce has thickened
Add in the dried mustard, cayenne pepper powder, salt, and black pepper, then mix and remove from the heat
Add in the pasta and some pasta water, if it is too thick, then mix until the pasta is coated
Bring another pot of water to boil
Cook the lobster for 5-7 minutes, until the shell is bright red, then let cool and cut away the shell
Mix the lobster into the mac n cheese and serve

my family has a tradition were we have it once a year at the end of summer and used to do it with my grandmother on the cape but now we do it here cuz she passed BUT WE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT HOW IT USED TO BE POOR PEOPLE FOOD

Lobster is one of those expensive overhyped foods that in reality is definitely not worth it. Are lobster or sushi or wagyu ( for example ) delicious? Yes absolutely. Are they worth spending a weeks pay for and hyping it up so much? Unless you're rich absolutely not. Not to mention I've never heard anyone say : I'm craving lobster so hard right now.
A big reason why lobsters ballooned in price isn’t because they started becoming rare. Actually, it’s because of a really scummy railroad company.
Basically, they didn’t want to spend so much money on food for their wealthy passengers, so they fed everyone lobster. Turns out, lobster is really good, and rich people started expecting it.

The only reason lobster is so pricey nowadays is because it got popular with rich people. That’s actually how most food gets insanely expensive, it starts as lower class food and then rich people take a liking to it and it becomes a trend. This still happens. The Dubai chocolate bar, boba tea, matcha, etc.

Everyone who talks about lobsters being fed to prisoners isn't giving the whole context. It wasn't served with like butter lemon and a little bib, it was boiled and ground up into a gruel with the shells included
