SIX IN A ROW! Coventry City 3–0 Preston North End | Sky Blues 8 Points Clear!

Preston North End travelled down to the CBS Arena midweek to take on league leaders Coventry City. Going into this one, the Sky Blues were sitting five points clear of second place Middlesbrough, with just 10 games left to play this season.

Earlier in the campaign we drew with PNE at Deepdale thanks to a last-minute equaliser, and we beat them 2–1 at the CBS Arena last season, so there was every reason to believe Coventry could get the job done again on home turf. Coventry had already won five games in a row for the third time this season, and this game gave us the chance to make it six on the bounce.

Me and Charlie headed over to the CBS Arena, although Charlie wasn’t feeling great at all – full of cold and a banging headache – but when the Sky Blues are playing midweek you’ve still got to show up.

And mate… we’re glad we did.

Coventry put in a fantastic first-half performance, racing into a 2–0 lead and looking in complete control. The third goal came from the penalty spot, calmly finished by the skipper Matt Grimes. Was it a questionable penalty? Possibly… but we’ll absolutely take it.

That result means six wins in a row for the Sky Blues, and to make things even sweeter Middlesbrough lost their game, which now puts Coventry 8 points clear at the top of the table.

Unfortunately I won’t be at the Southampton home game, which will only be the second game I’ve missed all season, as me and Sophie are celebrating our wedding anniversary in Venice. Don’t worry though… we’ll still be watching the Sky Blues – just with a glass of Italy’s finest red wine instead of a Guinness.
