Florence in 2026 is changing and travelers planning a trip to Florence the same way they did a few years ago may quickly discover that the city now operates very differently. Timed-entry museum tickets, nominative reservations, stricter accommodation rules, and a more structured travel environment mean that visiting Florence in 2026 requires a different approach to planning.
In this episode, I explain what has actually changed in Florence and how those changes affect the way travelers should design their Italy itinerary. From new ticketing systems at major sites like the Uffizi Gallery, the Accademia, and the Duomo, to evolving regulations in the historic center and the growing need for advance reservations across Italy, understanding how Florence now works can make the difference between a rushed, frustrating visit and a beautifully paced experience.
Drawing on daily insights from the team behind Fabulous Vita, a travel agency based in Italy that organizes trips across the country, this episode looks at the real logistical shifts shaping travel in Florence in 2026 and what travelers should do differently when planning their visit.
You’ll learn:
• Why spontaneous sightseeing in Florence is becoming harder
• How timed-entry tickets for the Uffizi, Accademia, and the Duomo are reshaping daily itineraries
• What new nominative ticket rules mean for travelers who want flexibility
• How new regulations in Florence’s historic center affect short-term rentals and arrivals
• Why compressed multi-city Italy itineraries are becoming increasingly difficult to manage
• How Europe’s growing digitization, from museum systems to border entry, is changing travel planning
Florence hasn’t become worse.
It has simply become more structured.
And travelers who understand that shift are the ones who enjoy the city the most.
If you’re planning a trip to Florence or building an Italy itinerary for 2026, this episode will help you understand how to approach the city realistically, and how to avoid some of the most common planning mistakes travelers still make.

Grazie Anastasia!! Your videos are amazing & informative!
I left my heart in Florence
You bring so much joy when I watch your video Anastasia. I have watched you from the beginning I am from Sydney Australian just one question do I need to have a copy of my passport to give to all the places I am staying in Italy for 21 days there 7 places and also 4 nights in Switzerland. 3 nights in Greece and 4 nights in Paris. So I am thinking g of taking 10 copies of my passport in my money belt So they don’t get stolen is that right each place will need a copy ?I don’t want any place to take my passport but happy to give a copy if this is the law. Thank you fabulous Anastasia
Personally, I do not mind these changes. With so many people visiting Florence and other cities, there needs structure and order. As for requiring photos, I completely understand. Unfortunately, the more tourist, the more possibility some might fall for some "unfavorable" instances. It is safety for the locals and even visitors.
This is good to know. Having traveled a fair bit, i have learned how to space😮 times. It works well planning ahead. Structure is good for me Thanks much for sharing i do kbow that wheb/ if returnibg to Florence i will spend several days. There is so much i love and wish to see.🥰
I never travel to the mother land during the summer. Avoid event weeks, accommodations become unreasonable. This would work thru out Europe. I know more secrets but I am not telling. Well maybe just one more, drink Cinque Terre wine.
