Japanese-Italian fusion food in Cary, North Carolina 🇯🇵 🇮🇹.

This style of cooking is called itameshi. The term became popular in the 1990s, but Japanese chefs have been adapting Italian cuisine since the 1920s.

You can try it right here in the Triangle at Shinmai Kumo, which opened in fall 2025. (They’re actually the sister restaurant to another personal favorite, Shinmai Shokudo)

What we tried this visit:
• Warm baguette with four house spreads
• Mentaiko mochi flatbread
• Sukiyaki linguine
• Steak special
• Omurice

And don’t skip the drinks! I loved the rose tea latte, but the strawberry matcha latte and ichigo spritz are also great if you’re in the mood for strawberries 🍓 .

✨ March promo: spend $20 and enjoy a free drink.

Have you tried itameshi before?
