One Year Across Italy, Greece & France begins with a train journey from Rome to Florence, one of the most traveled routes in Italy, marking the start of a year-long project exploring what everyday life across the Mediterranean actually feels like beyond the typical tourist experience.
In this first episode of Mediterranean Diaries, I leave Rome after nearly ten years to begin a one-year journey across Italy, Greece, and France, exploring these countries not just as travel destinations, but as places to live, work, and move through slowly.
The journey begins at Rome Termini with a high-speed train to Florence, a route many travelers include in their Italy itinerary. Along the way, you’ll see what the experience actually looks like – navigating Italian train stations, waiting for platform announcements, traveling in business class on an Italian high-speed train, and what it feels like to arrive in Florence by train.
But this series goes beyond logistics or typical travel guides.
As the founder of a travel agency that organizes trips across Italy, Greece, and France every day, I’m stepping away from my home in Rome for a year to experience these places differently – following the rhythm of the seasons and sharing what life here truly looks like beyond the guidebooks.
If you’re planning a trip to Italy, Greece, or France, or simply curious about what life in these places actually feels like beyond a short visit, this series will take you along that journey.
And in the next chapter, we begin discovering what everyday life in Florence really looks like.
Subscribe to follow the journey across Italy, Greece, and France as Mediterranean Diaries continues.
